Presentation

For over 40 years, our association has been running volunteer workcamps in the southern Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region and the Mediterranean basin. Surrounded by professionals, the volunteers work to enhance the historical heritage and the environment. The association also offers awareness-raising activities in the field of sustainable development and major natural hazards.

Opus has been awarded the "Centre Permanent d'Initiatives pour l'Environnement des Pays de Vaucluse" label, which implies a quality approach and guarantees the coherence of the association's actions.

ACTING FOR HERITAGE

The team works to safeguard and enhance our natural and built heritage by encouraging citizen participation and applying the principles of popular education through the implementation of

  • international volunteer workcamps that introduce people to traditional building techniques, and help safeguard sites andmonuments (sheepfolds, fountains, chapels, calades, etc.).
  • campuses, multi-disciplinary study and field workshops for local development.
  • introductory courses in traditional know-how to discover or deepen your knowledge of dry stone, stonemasonry and old buildings.
  • heritage discovery and interpretation trails in urban and rural areas.

TAKING ACTION FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

The eco-citizenship center develops its expertise on themes linked to sustainable development through a multi-disciplinary approach: land-use planning and discovery of natural heritage, adaptation to climate change, sustainable consumption, waste prevention and management, management and preservation of biodiversity, sustainable gardening and agriculture, management and preservation of water resources.

  • the creation of scientific popularization tools
  • creating and running educational programs for schools and leisure activities
  • producing guides to discover the Vaucluse region
  • supporting local development

DEALING WITH NATURAL HAZARDS

A special feature of the CPIE des Pays de Vaucluse for the past 25 years, the team has been helping to make citizens more aware of the risks of flooding and forest fires, by creating and implementing, in partnership with the CPIE des Pays de Vaucluse, a series of awareness-raising initiatives.ation and implementation, at the request of the communities concerned, of information and experimentation tools, in order to foster a genuine risk culture.

To this end, we produce

  • scientific popularization tools
  • educational programs for schools and leisure activities
  • La mémoire des risques" topoguides (a guide to areas that have suffered natural disasters in the past).

INTERNATIONAL ACTION

The association's international cooperation initiatives are cross-functional and built around its core competencies: environment, heritage and local development, with the aim of promoting an intercultural approach to sustainable development in Europe and the Mediterranean.

Cooperation projects aim to encourage the commitment and mobility of young Mediterranean people in favour of

  • the fight against climate change,
  • strengthening local environmental initiatives,
  • promoting local rural heritage.

The majority of these actions are carried out within the framework of major European partnership programs (Voisinage, Erasmus+, Leader, Interreg, Feder...) co-financed by the European Union.
