International workcamps
The international site: Going out into the world

Would you like to discover a country, its culture and its people?
REMPART offers workcamps and training courses all over the world to experience heritage in a different way!
These missions give access to a wide variety of projects, reveal local techniques and involve, to varying degrees, a taste for adventure. Autonomy, curiosity and a sense of adaptation will be the keys to the success of your stay.
From a meetingwith our neighbors on the Italian peninsula to a workcamp in theheart of Transylvania or Mexico, you're bound to find anassignment to suit your taste and your heritage experience.
Workcamps abroad are organized by our foreign partners, in compliance with the regulations of their country and in a spirit close to that of REMPART.They are aimed at French volunteers over the age of 18.In Belgium, some workcamps can welcome volunteers aged 17 or even 16, but bear in mind that you'll have to travel to the workcamp on your own.
How to register
Discovering know-how from elsewhere
Cactus-based mortar in Mexico, traditional carpentry in China, stone construction in Croatia... Heritage restoration takes as many forms as there are cultures. International workcamps give you a unique opportunity to learn new skills with a local association. These workcamps give you the chance to learn restoration techniques while integrating this learning into a local historical and cultural context. A REMPART stay abroad also includes theoretical sessions on the history and techniques of restoration. They also include visits to local heritage sites. Whether you're a beginner, curious or passionate about restoration, you're welcome!
An unforgettable intercultural encounter
Beyond the technical aspects, the international workcamp represents a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture. You'll be part of a group of volunteers, often binational, sometimes international. Working with your host association, you'll have the privilege of discovering unique places, meeting local communities and, above all, tasting local specialities! From China to Tunisia, via Italy, no one is ever safe from culture shock, which, when properly prepared, gives international workcamps their full meaning. That's why REMPART accompanies you from the moment you register until you return to France, to make sure you have the best experience.

How to register
Make sure you read the registration terms and conditions carefully before pre-registering, as specific formalities for participation in a workcamp outside France require additional obligations, whether it's a workcamp in Europe or beyond...
For this, you must have a telephone conversation with REMPART at the time of your pre-registration. You can contact the International Relations team on 01 44 54 13 89 or international@rempart.com, or we will contact you once we have received your pre-registration request.
During this exchange, you'll be able to ask any questions you may have, and we'll make sure you're well prepared for the intercultural experience. Your pre-registration must first be validated by REMPART. You will then be put in touch with the host organization.

For Europe, an identity card.
For projects outside Europe, a passport valid for at least 6 months after the end of the project. A copy of your passport will be requested when you confirm your registration. If you don't have a passport and need to have one issued, remember to start the process at least 3 months before the dates of your project. Some countries require a visa, which is issued by their embassy. Find out more before registering. REMPART can help you with the necessary formalities, but does not take responsibility for them.
French volunteers going to a workcamp in a European Union country , or European volunteers going to a workcamp in France, are required to carry insurance.to a workcamp in France must have a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC ) to be covered by social security in the event of a medical problem. This can be done online via your ameli account, but you should allow plenty of time for it to arrive - sometimes it can take up to 15 days for the card to arrive in your mailbox. For repatriation and accident insurance in Europe, the REMPART insurance included in your registration fee is sufficient.
For work sites outside Europe, the EHIC does not apply. In this case, in addition to your registration fee, you'll need to take out travel insurance covering civil liability, repatriation and early return for the duration of your stay. If you already have such insurance, please provide us with proof when you register. Alternatively, REMPART offers MMA "Assistance, repatriation costs" insurance for the duration of the workcamp at €25 (also open to foreign volunteers). To make this choice, simply tick the appropriate box when paying your expenses to REMPART online.
Once all this is clear, it's time to finalize your registration! Once REMPART has validated your pre-registration request, we'll send you an automatic e-mail inviting you to complete your profile: please provide as much information as possible, so that we can best prepare for your arrival (emergency numbers, allergies, special needs, etc.). You will be invited to get in touch with the people in charge of the workcamp, as well as with other REMPART volunteers.
How to register

The organization of your trip to the work site is done independently. However, REMPART makes it easy for volunteers to get in touch with each other, so that you can organize your trip together, or meet up along the way. When you register, you'll have the chance to join a discussion group.
Also, for departures outside Europe, an information and preparation meeting takes place every year before the summer, both face-to-face and online. Hesitant travelers can also join us for this time of exchange : this meeting can help you make your decision! Dates for meetings dedicated to certaininternational destinationswill also be specified when youconfirmyourregistration.

You will also be responsible for your own travel expenses, althoughREMPART mobility grants are available, especially for long distances (over 3,000km). The amount reimbursed is to be confirmed during your telephone conversation with us. Generally speaking, we offer a reimbursement of approximately 25% of the price of your round-trip plane ticket, provided that you present us with the necessary supporting documents (confirmation email). Please note, however, that these refunds are made at the end of the building season, around October.

"I hadn't envisaged this way of travelling as meeting my expectations of discovering another culture at that point. Before I left, I was afraid I'd be frustrated by not having enough time to discover the [country]. I came back extremely enriched by the discovery of the culture and the beautiful people. I'd like to go back to see the people I met, check on the progress of the project (and possibly take part again) and discover other parts of the country. Taking part in a restoration project abroad means discovering a country, a culture and restoration techniques, but also feeling useful."
