Founded in 2007, the association's aim is to organize artistic and socio-cultural events at the Château de Sanzay, a 13th-century castle surrounded by a moat.

The association manages, animates and brings to life its associative project within the Château de Sanzay, a 13th-century fortified enclosure surrounded by a moat. The site, which is listed as a Historic Monument, hosts participative and citizen workcamps, shared workshops, an associative honey factory, an apiary school, a soap factory, beekeeping activities, metal and wood, nature, gardening and permaculture, a shared garden and the Cantine des Colporteurs. The association also organizes courses (soap, garden & permaculture, welding...), concerts, games evenings, .... Today, La Colporteuse is a Socio-cultural Center, a Third Place and an Ecological Transition School (ETRE).
