The Association de la Tour du Viala du Pas de Jaux was founded in 1981 by the village's inhabitants, with the support of the Association des Amis du Château de Montaigut.
Its primary aim is to safeguard and restore the village's historic buildings, including a 14th-century dwelling belonging to the Knights of St John of Jerusalem, and a 15th-century, five-storey attic tower.
A few years ago, the association set up a tour to help visitors discover local heritage marked by the presence of the Knights Templar and the Hospitallers. The association's members and staff work hard to bring the château to life throughout the year.
The Association has restored an adjoining house, typical of Caussenarde architecture, and created a Gite d'Étape et de Séjour. Open all year round, it can accommodate 15 people and boasts modern comforts and central heating. A fireplace in the common room enhances the living space.
The association already welcomes schoolchildren from the surrounding area for themed visits, and plans to develop this activity further.
