Train historique de Rillé (AECFM)

Organizers / Managers

Presentation

The association works to preserve, restore and present to the public the narrow-gauge railway equipment of the former departmental railroads (steam locomotives, old wagons and installations).

Volunteers carry out all restoration and maintenance work on the railroad.

The operation of an old railroad is now highly regulated by the Ministry of Transport. As a result, volunteers who wish to do so are required to obtain the necessary authorizations to perform safety functions on the train.

On the other hand, railway restoration and maintenance operations are highly varied. All skills and good will are welcome.

One of our association's objectives is to train our members, particularly young people, in the techniques of restoring railway equipment, as well as in the operation of an old railroad.

Since 1994, we have been organizing a national training course (the only one of its kind in France) entitled "Driving, heating, maintenance and safety on a steam locomotive".

It's more in the context of integration into working life and for young members of school age that we can play a role.

Since the association was founded in 1977, eight of our young people have been recruited by major companies on the basis of their volunteer experience.
