Organizers / Managers
Presentation
The Pierres en Marche association was founded on November 3, 2009 with the aim of organizing and carrying out actions on sites of interest, both natural and built, with a view to rehabilitating and reappropriating remarkable local heritage. To this end, it aims to set up volunteer workcamps as part of the REMPART Union, organize events to raise public awareness and disseminate information. This approach is based on the promotion, experimentation and enhancement of techniques for protecting and building traditional local heritage.
We are currently rehabilitating the site known as the "winter washhouse", using it to promote dry-stone construction, fauna, flora and water management. Our aim is to return the site to the commune, integrating it into two adjacent footpaths. Its use will be defined with the local population and decision-makers. (A place for remembrance, education, picnics and relaxation). In the near future, the association will be launching a participatory inventory of dry-stone constructions in the Toulx-Ste-Croix village (Knowledge for better preservation).
In the future, we'd like to set up a "maison de vie" project in the center of Toulx-Sainte-Croix: restore a building with the aim of making it a place for meetings and exchanges, and involve the population and local players as much as possible in the project to define needs and desires. Restoring the building will enable us to showcase traditional local construction techniques, and set an example of restoration that respects local architecture. There's no shortage of work to be done, and we've got some great projects ahead of us.
Themed walks: A biannual event in summer and winter, a breath of fresh air and a chance to learn more about our built and natural heritage during a discovery hike.
