The Association des Amis du Musée du Papier (AMP), founded in 1966, is dedicated to safeguarding the Coulommiers Templar Commandery and promoting papermaking techniques through a variety of exhibitions (permanent and temporary), paper workshops (weekly or weekend) and conferences. The aim is to raise public awareness of the notions of transmission, training and conservation of know-how in relation to the history of paper linked to its geographical location (evocation of the factories that contributed to Coulommiers' economic boom in the 19th century, a walking tour of the industrial town center planned for Heritage Days, etc.).).

It also aims to promote a global cultural initiative based on knowledge and rehabilitation of the architectural, archaeological, historical, aesthetic, natural, technical and social heritage of the Coulommiers region (Seine et Marne).

The association's actions are based on popular education, teaching, training, information, integration, research and animation, and aim to contribute to the transmission, restoration and maintenance of heritage, in the broadest sense of the term, including the Commanderie des Templiers de Coulommiers and the traditional techniques used in the construction and restoration of ancient monuments.

The association is a member of Union REMPART, a national heritage association recognized as being of public utility, whose main aim is to promote and defend voluntary and citizen action in the field of heritage.
