Presentation
Founded in 1970 in Corte, the FAGEC (Fédération d'Associations et Groupements pour les Etudes Corses) brings together around ten associations under the 1901 law, whose aim is to study and promote the island's ancient heritage. These associations are active in a wide range of fields, including the rescue, consolidation and enhancement of Romanesque churches, research into prehistoric, classical and medieval archaeology, the collection of traditions and legends, the compilation of toponymy for almost one hundred and twenty island communes, and the study of ancient deeds.
Two associations are particularly active in archaeology: the Association des Amis de Mariana and the Association pour la Recherche dans le Sud-Est de la Corse (ARSEC).
