Built for Nicolas-Joseph Foucault, appointed Intendant of the Generalitat de Caen by Louis XIV and 2nd Marquis de Magny, the Château de Magny-en-Bessin has long been the stuff of dreams.teau de Magny-en-Bessin has long been the stuff of dreams, with its architecture, formal gardens and driveway overlooking Bayeux Cathedral. Looted of its remarkable features and ravaged by two successive fires, this once one of the greatest classical-style châteaux in Calvados has lost some of its splendour. The Association de sauvegarde du château de Magny-en-Bessin is determined to do everything in its power to safeguard, restore and enhance this listed building.
