Presentation

The association's aim is to contribute to the artistic and cultural development of the region. Its aim is to collect, preserve and promote local heritage, and make it accessible to all Argonnais. The "Mémoire de la Grande Guerre en Argonne/Route de la Haute Chevauchée" project is part of a duty to remember, and involves several partners: Conseil général, communes, Office des Forêts... A combat zone in the Argonne has already been brought out of oblivion with the rehabilitation of a German liaison tunnel, the Kaiser-Tunnel, and the creation of a historical trail running through trenches and guts. The aim now is to extend the project to show the reality of war in this area, which was the largest forestry operation of all European wars. As a first step, the association would like to set up a volunteer workcamp to restore a drinking water supply, treatment and distribution network on this 14-18 war site, as well as the restoration of a stable, drinking trough and office shelter in the commune of La Chalade.
