Archeoclub Italia is a network of Italian associations founded in 1971. The association in Campobello di Licata, in eastern Sicily, was founded in 1998 with the aim of enhancing knowledge and appreciation of the local archaeological heritage with a view to local development. In partnership with the local community, the association has set up a project to enhance a Bronze Age necropolis and create an archaeological park open to visitors. Summer workcamps welcome volunteers to help advance this project. The association also organizes educational activities to raise awareness of the region's heritage in schools and universities. Moreover, since 2000, the association has been keen to include a strong European dimension in its activities: it permanently welcomes several European volunteers who participate fully in its activities, and it gives an international dimension to its summer workcamps.
