All is not lost - Volunteer workcamp for 18 year olds and over

Hello to you, young (or not so young) Internet user lost on the REMPART website looking for a workcamp to experience during the Easter vacations!

You may already have had the great experience of a volunteer workcamp, but maybe not yet with Déclam'! We won't tell you you're wrong, because all the other workcamps are great!

But what we can assure you is that we'll do our utmost to ensure that the one we're offering you to experience with us in Saint Perdoux is another great adventure to be lived collectively in contact with the village's inhabitants.

As for you, who's never dared to take the plunge and sign up for a volunteer workcamp, maybe you've been hesitating for some time now, or maybe you're just curious and you've vaguely heard about it, but you don't really know what to expect.

So here's a description that we hope will appeal to both the hesitant and the seasoned:

For the past 5 years, our association has been organizing volunteer workcamps in Saint-Perdoux (and for longer periods elsewhere around Figeac).

This village has adopted us, just as we have adopted it, because we build our restoration projects with the villagers, based on their requests.

Taking part in this project (and it's the same for any other) means transforming your "deckchair lounging" vacation into an active "wheelbarrow hammering" vacation in the service of our heritage and its inhabitants.

It's also (and above all!) about participating and sharing with other people, cooking together using local produce from local farmers (sorry, we never go to the supermarket, because we love eating really good produce, and in the Lot, we're pretty lucky).

It also means learning or perfecting heritage restoration techniques with professional supervisors: this year in Saint-Perdoux, we'll be rebuilding a dry-stone wall in a village hamlet,

we'll be making wooden furniture for the community café located in the old communal building,

and if there's time, we'll continue the development of an old abandoned washhouse.

No tents, no old-fashioned dormitories, but you'll be welcomed in Séverine and Patrick's gîte at the Moulin de Buffan, 500 meters from the village.

We prefer to tell you that rooms may be shared, but if you're curious enough to look at the photos on the gîte's website, you'll soon forget about this constraint.

We'll also take the time to visit the surrounding area, because as we've said, as for the food, we're lucky enough to be surrounded by some very beautiful villages and towns: Figeac, Cardaillac, Capdenac le Haut etc....

Every year, the festival committee organizes an evening concert with volunteers and villagers! Oh yeah!!!

Important information: before you sign up, we like to talk to the people on the phone to get to know them and explain the content of the project in more detail, so that there are no unpleasant surprises when you arrive.
