The Cantecort water mill dates back to the 16th century. Over the years, it has undergone numerous architectural modifications. Left abandoned for several decades, the commune of Gaujac became the owner of the site in 2014. Under an agreement with the Mairie de Gaujac, the association is authorized to restore and animate the site. Every year, it organizes a summer workcamp in July or August. For RESP members, this is an opportunity to meet volunteers from all over France and abroad. Beyond the restoration of the site, the RESP association strives to help all its volunteers discover the area, during visits to the region's heritage sites. It's all about conviviality and gastronomy!
Committed to rural heritage, the association regularly takes part in national and international heritage days. These include
- European Mill Days
- European Heritage Days
- Journées du Patrimoine de Pays et des Moulin (Country and Mill Heritage Days)
- Discovery Days organized by the Conseil Départemental du Lot & Garonne
During these days, we offer visitors a variety of workshops.
- Masonry on old buildings
- Stone carving
- Floral table art
- Three mills discovery walk
- Fun games for young visitors
- Picnic lunch every day
RESP organizes a variety of inclusion initiatives. In particular, for school drop-outs from the Marmande (47) and La Réole (33) high schools. Every spring, groups of young high-school students come to the site to discover the milling heritage typical of our region, and to build reclaimed wood structures on the site's plateau (planters, tables, stairs, bird and insect nesting boxes, etc.). From time to time, the association organizes "New Chance" training camps with its partners. This was the case in 2019-2020, with a training course in masonry on old buildings.
