Friends of the Marsal Salt Museum
Presentation
The association is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the heritage of the Marsal commune, in particular that linked to salt production. The presence of natural salt ponds made this activity possible for thousands of years, right up to the end of the 17th century. Fortified by Vauban, the town subsequently became a strategic location for the French kingdom. The heritage still present in Marsal bears witness to the city's prestigious role and wealth until the 19th century. To make this heritage known to all, the association Les Amis du Musée du Sel offers guided tours of the site, as well as monthly lectures.
