Presentation

L'Assise is an association under the French law of 1901, created onOctober 24, 2020. Its head office is located at 3 rue haute in Villejésus (16140 Aigre), Charente. Its office is located at this address, within the Maison Valtaud.

A popular education association, its aim is to promote and buildsocial and human links through the rehabilitation and animation ofheritage ( built, natural and intangible),art and culture.
Its project is based on the values of inclusion and equality, diversity, cultural exchange andliving together.

With this in mind, it can take action in a number of areas: the organization and supervision of youth work camps during the summer season, the setting up of participative work camps, the creation of cultural events, theprojects to protect biodiversity and the environment.

L'Assise has been a member of the REMPART Union since December 17, 2020. Its volunteers are involved in the national network and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine regional union.

Association operations :

Within L'Assise, a 15-person mixed Board of Directors organizes the associative life and makes decisions concerning the operation and management of the site and its actions. The Board meets once a month, and once every two weeks from April to September.

The association also organizes itself into working committees, open to all volunteers, to reflect on and work on the development of new projects, and the planning and development of ongoing projects. These committees regularly report on their work to the Board of Directors.

An annual General Meeting brings together all members, to present the year's results, vote on major changes and renew the elected members of the Board.

Members are kept informed of the association's activities via a quarterly newsletter sent by e-mail. Some information (participative workcamps, summer workcamps, events) is relayed by e-mail. The association also communicates via its Facebook and Instagram pages.

L'Assise manages the Valtaud bequest, owned by Union REMPART. The property, consisting of a house (formerly a grocery store), its outbuildings and workshops, the garden and several small plots of land on the outskirts of the village, was bequeathed to us by Marie Valtaud. The heritage value lies in the building, the collections of objects and tools, and the family history (which can be glimpsed in the letters, and which we have beenWe can also learn more about them thanks to the collection of Marie Valtaud's memories carried out by Michel Valière and Club Marpen in the 80s).

Today, L'Assise intends to restore the premises and collections and enhance them by various means. Ultimately, it is committed to creating and animating a museographic space and mediation areas around the history of the family and the region, in accordance with Marie Valtaud's wishes. The association also wishes to develop the site as a place to welcome different publics, as well as a place to live. Gradually, ecological projects are to be developed on the various adjoining plots, enabling actions to safeguard the natural heritage and experiment with alternatives.

In parallel with its investment in the Maison Valtaud, L'Assise is more broadly committed to the local built, cultural and natural heritage. It can therefore work in partnership with various local town halls to carry out restoration projects. L'Assise intends to gradually forge links with the local population to support local initiatives in the fields of heritage, social action and ecology.
