The Histoire et Patrimoine association was created in 1992. Its initial aim was to safeguard and promote the medieval château de Vignory, a listed historic monument of which significant remains remain (12th century keep, 15th and 16th century artillery towers...).
Since those early days, the association's objectives have grown and it now takes into account all the architectural treasures to be found in Vignory. Since 1998, two houses have been acquired for public display; one is destined to become the association's head office, and part of it has already been converted into an eco-museum.One is destined to become the association's headquarters, and part of it has already been converted into an eco-museum featuring models of the castle, siege machines and artifacts (pottery, cannonballs, arrowheads, etc.)....); the second, a hosier's house, has been restored to its 19th-century state, to plunge visitors into an era before electricity and running water.
In 2000, Histoire et Patrimoine extended its expertise once again with the creation of a medieval-inspired garden at the foot of the château.
Every summer since 2003, the association has supervised youth volunteer workcamps on 140 meters of ramparts. Since 2009, Histoire et Patrimoine has been involved in monitoring the restoration of the keep by the Communauté de Communes du Bassin de Bologne Vignory Froncles through a reintegration project, and that of the Tour au Puits through a conventional project.
In addition to regular visits to these various components, every two years the members of the association organize a medieval festival to bring the château to life.
