Weekend course - Gardening for heritage

How can the restoration of buildings be combined with the preservation of living things? How can nature be integrated into historic monuments? And how can we identify the biodiversity to be preserved? Come and explore these fascinating questions at Château de Beaumont-sur-Oise!

Located in the heart of Beaumont-sur-Oise town center, Château de Beaumont is an ancient medieval fortress. The remains of the 13th-century ashlar keep and ramparts are still visible, as is the semi-buried chapel, which was part of an important religious establishment founded between 1107 and 1110. Strategically positioned to defend the roads north of Paris, the château has seen many conflicts. Burnt down during the Hundred Years' War, then demolished during the Wars of Religion at the end of the 16th century, the château was excavated in the 1980s and 1990s.

Supervised by archaeologists, the day will be punctuated by a lecture, to provide some answers, and by practical exercises. These times will allow us to question our restoration practices.

The association provides picnic lunches.

Château de Beaumont-sur-Oise is accessible by train, and is just a few minutes' walk from Persan-Beaumont station (TER and line H from Paris).
