Restore a listed 13th-century château

The heritage site

Situated on a wooded hilltop in the middle of the Montagne Bourbonnaise, Château de Montgilbert is an imposing 13th-century edifice, modified in the 15th century for artillery purposes. Abandoned during the French Revolution, it is now in ruins and protected as a Monument Historique.The main castle, square in plan, is composed of four round towers separated by curtain walls and square towers. In its upper courtyard, the walls of the seigniorial dwellings and their cellars, the kitchens and the cistern remain. One of the corner towers still houses the chapel. The outer wall delimits a vast lower courtyard of around one hectare.
